Want To Be Real
This is a song about being honest with God. Admitting that I have had doubts about the truth of His existence and involvement in my life. At times, I wondered if this was just a big emotional game, and the peace in my heart was a mere side effect of giving my life completely to something. If you are torn between two things, you will not have peace. Once you make your decision, the peace will of course follow. The problem with this thought process is, while it is logical, it's not theological. There is more to Christianity than feeling a peace in your heart, but to understand that, I had to come clean to God with my doubt.
Lyrics:
I've never said this before, I've never opened that door so wide
No one else is around there's no good reason for me to hide
And I, I want to be real
Chorus
So I'm throwing out words I don't fully understand
I could be talking to myself, but I don’t think I am
‘Cause You're always there, through the fight
Saving my heart from the doubt inside
I'm not the man that I was, I used to see You in highs and lows
But now I'll keep on believing, even if I can’t see You
And I, I wanna be real
Chorus
And I, I wanna be real, and I, I wanna be real
There's too much at stake and I'm tired of faking
I just wanna be real, I wanna be real
There’s too much at stake and I don't care if I break
I wanna be real, I just wanna be real

The guitar solo at the end of the song really sounds like Lincoln Brewster. Anybody know who it is?
I have nothing but raves for the entire CD. Great job Chris! Good Luck with all your endeavors.
i really love this song....... i want to be real! :)
yeah those are the lyrics on the CD. To be honest, I kind of like these. What's the deal?
Okay, love this song so much.
But confused. Are there two versions?
Obviously since this is the official website I shouldn't question but just curious. I thought the line was " I could be talkin to myself, but I don't think I am....because your always there....through the fight, saving my heart from the doubt inside "
