A Glimpse Into My Christmas
Christmas time is awesome. I do the same thing every year. I start by decorating my tree. Oh wait, I don’t have to. Why? Because it’s still up from last year. Yep. I left it up because it was so pretty. Why would I hide such an amazing piece of foliage in the attic? Not my style. After I have a staring contest with my tree, I turn my gaze to a brighter display of radiance. This is when I scour the town in search for the best arrangement of Christmas lights. It’s during this quest that I also hope to see Santa and his reindeer soaring through the midnight air bringing Christmas joy to everyone. Once I’m home I make a nice bowl of my original cookie paste. (See cooking with Chris videos for details). Of course I leave some out for Santa. He loves it. After I have devoured all the cookie paste one can handle, I fall gently asleep under the Christmas tree while pondering the same thing: I sure hope I get that life-size Empire State building I’ve always wanted.
Some of that is make believe. Part of it is true. All of it is awesome. But at the end of the day Christmas means more to me than just trading gifts, eating cookies, hoping to see Santa and even more than being with family and friends. It’s the time of year I celebrate my Savior’s birth. It started with a baby in a manger. Finished with a resurrection. Happy Birthday Christ, and Merry Christmas to you all.

Chris, I wanted to share a funny story about your music. . . the first time I heard "Starry Night," I was captured by it. What an amazing song! The funny thing was that on Christmas Eve you performed it at Lakepointe Church . .. only I hadn't taken the time to learn who you were. So, when you performed that night, I remember whispering to all of my family , "I LOVE THIS SONG!" Then, when you finished, I mentioned, "Wow, I think that guy really performed it better than the original!" Now I laugh out loud. It was only after this past Sunday that I looked you up because Pastor Steve Stroope gave an AMAZING sermon on forgiveness and at the end He played your video 7x70. I could NOT hold back the tears. It is one of the most moving songs I have ever heard. Not because I come from a broken family, but my husband does and He is lost. I continue to pray for his salvation and for his heart to be healed to the Lord. Only the enemy is working non-stop through his mother to harden his heart even more. When I watched your video, I saw the little boy . . . and saw my husband through your song. It has caused me to have a whole new heart for forgiveness toward him and understand that his hardened heart comes from being filled with brokeness and pain. Thank you for being so transparent through this song. I pray it will touch the lives of MANY.
Anyway, I wanted to stop by and tell you how incredible your music is to the hearts of those listening . . . as a Christian writer, I know it is always nice to hear that your endless devotion to the Lord is making a difference in the lives of others. I pray that you continue to pursue His heart relentlessly.
Blessings brother,
Cherie
